After beating breast cancer in 2018, Rebecca Meyers-Tomecki passed peacefully in the arms of her son, daughter, and husband after a sudden subarachnoid hemorrhage (“brain bleed”). Family and friends gave support in a procession on her way to donate for a Gift of Hope. As an organ donor, she has given the gift of life to at least 5 others.
Rebecca was a loving, kind, and beautiful mother of Chase and Skyler, wife/ “zona” to her “maz” George Tomecki MD, and friend to many (including her dog Odie). Daughter of Mary K. Meyers and Richard Meyers, she was a fitness-lover and yoga enthusiast who always looked for ways to be a healthier person. She loved riding roller coasters and visiting theme parks with her family, especially Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, Florida. She was a die hard Cubs fan and loved spending the day at Wrigley Field. Her favorite season was fall because of the color of the leaves and the warm scents. In addition, she liked shopping for new clothes, listening to old country music, watching musicals, and going to the coffee shop. She always took time to catch up with friends, spend time with family, and be a positive and supportive influence to everyone around her.
Rebecca received her Bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she met her husband at the age of 18. She received her Masters of Counseling from ISU and later her LCPC, and has been the Practice Manager at The Family Doctors for the past 18 years. Rebecca took great pride that their “mom and pop” solo family physician office in Brookfield, IL, provided a personal touch that has been otherwise lost in today’s medical system. Their slogan “we specialize in you” sums it up!
